2010 Begins

New Basics Brass Band has been in the shop preparing for the next level. Retooling, polishing, painting, buffing. Torn down, re-built; well-greased and ready for presentation.

We've got a buncha new tunes. Buncha= at least an entire new set of fire.

We have several upcoming opportunities for you to get out of the house, forget the day-to-day, enjoy yourself, and engage your backside. Please pass along this to anyone who is not as hip as you.

Fat Mondays at Vonn Jazz Lounge

Monday, February 15 (Lundi Gras) is the kickoff to our new weekly party at Vonn Jazz Lounge at Campus View. The cover is only $5 and you will have access to their great martinis for a mere $6. The room is beautiful, the food is great, and there is plenty of room for dancing so bring a date or find one there. We will play from 8 pm to 11 pm every week, so you can make it home at a guilt-free hour. www.vonnjazz.com

Mardi Gras Triple Header

On Tuesday, February 16 (Mardi Gras) we will hit it hard. First is a live on-air performance at 2 pm on Columbus’ best radio station, WCBE. If you’re out of town, surf to wcbe.org.

Then we make our way to Gallo’s Tap Room. These guys have it covered: plenty of free parking, great service, and a killer menu (crawfish etoufee, buttermilk catfish, muffulettas, red beans & rice, jambalaya, and hurricanes… nothing is over $8!!!!) We play from 4pm to 7pm, so hurry over from work, or your nap, or whatever.

And finally on to the one and only Dick’s Den. This is where we let it all hang out. We will throw our own party complete with beads, homemade grub, and good times. 9 pm – 1 or so.
